About BCPL's Teacher Loan Cards...   Helping educators to help kids is a part of why we're here and why we offer a special library card for teachers and educators.  We are eager to share materials with your students or groups and we think you will find that our policies make this process easy and convenient.   If you have any questions, please call Youth Services Department, 410-887-0517, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

 

 

The Teacher Loan card makes it easier than ever for you to bring the resources of the library to your students! Here are the basics:

 

• School Loan cards are permitted a six week loan period with no option to renew materials.  This loan period also applies to InterLibrary Loan materials unless the lending library dicatates otherwise.

 

• DVDs, video games and new adult fiction cannot be checked out to a Teacher Loan Card.

 

• Registration is annual; library cards expire August 31 of each year.  Any problems or delinquencies on previous school or personal loan cards must be resolved before a card can be renewed for the new school year.

 

• No fines charged for overdue items.

 

• If holds are not picked up, they will be subject to the $1.00 per item Not Picked Up (NPU) fee.

• All other rules and procedures apply the same as with your personal library card. A librarian at the Information Desk can assist you with any questions about the use of the Teacher Loan Card.

 

Media specialists and teachers at Baltimore County public and private schools, day care centers, child care providers, home school teachers working with Baltimore County schools, and employees and volunteers of Baltimore County agencies or non-profit groups that organize book discussion groups or share library materials in groups for educational purposes. Personal library cards must be in good standing.

2. Fill out the form.
3. Bring the form and your valid identification to any BCPL branch.

 

 

Here is what you need to verify identity and certification...

• Teachers
  Stamp the completed registration form with your school or day care center’s stamp. An authorization on school letterhead is no longer necessary but may be substituted if you don’t have a stamp. Bring the registration form and valid driver’s license or identification to any Baltimore County Public Library branch. As an alternative, a school ID may be presented.

• Child Care Providers
  Bring your State of Maryland Child Care Certificate, your valid driver’s license or identification, and the completed registration form to any Baltimore County Public Library branch.

• Home School Teachers
  Bring your identification from the Baltimore County Public School's Home Schooling Office, your valid driver's license or identification, and the completed registration form to any Baltimore County Public Library branch.

• County Agency or Non-Profit
  Bring a valid driver's license or photo identification with a letter printed on agency letterhead verifying your status as a book discussion leader or other involvement sharing library materials for discussion or education to any Baltimore County Public Library branch.
