For children ages birth to five.
You’re never too young for reading! Join the
Pre-School Reading Program!
Here’s how to get started:
-
Visit your Baltimore
County Public Library at any time during the program.

Register for the Pre-School
Reading Program & get your starter packet.
-
Have someone read to
you.
-
Have fun with
crafts and activities.
It’s
that easy ... and LOTS of fun!
Feel
free to enjoy any or all of the following activities:
-
Visit the library and let the child pick a book.
-
Attend a program at the library.
-
Read a book, work a puzzle, or do a nursery rhyme or finger-play.
-
Color a picture or any art activity.
-
Count the stars out loud or describe cloud shapes.
-
Sing a song together (while driving, diapering, working, bathing, etc.).
-
Cook something together and share the words on the recipe.
-
Read a book together while waiting (doctor’s office, dentist, etc.).
-
Point out letters and printed words everywhere (cereal boxes, street
signs, etc.).
-
Create a special place to read together and to keep library materials.
-
Show the child how to turn pages.
-
Have an older child read to your little one.
-
Share a story with a friend (real, stuffed, or imaginary).
-
Make up an activity of your own.
