HUD Real Estate and Homes for Sale
Access property for sale through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Search for listings by state and city, submit online bids, find a local agent, get information on purchasing a home.

Extensive home listings plus all the vital stats, including schools, local buying/selling trends, neighborhood profiles.

Baltimore County Homeownership Assistance (local interest)
Information on programs such as the Settlement Expense Loan program (SELP), Rehabilitation Loans, and Emergency Repair Program.

Baltimore County Housing Opportunities Program [PDF] (local interest)
Provides home ownership and home improvement aid for Baltimore County residents. In order to qualify, income requirements may have to be met and homes may have to be in designated areas.

Provides news, tips and advice to compare mortgage rates and home equity loans around the country

Fannie Mae Homepath
Fannie Mae has developed innovative mortgage products, available to consumers through a nationwide network of lender partners. Features a “Find a Lender” Search, Becoming a Homeowner Tips, and other resources to make it easier to find a suitable mortgage product.

Foreclosure

Community Assistance Network, Inc (CAN) (local interest)
A private nonprofit human services agency offering a range of programs and services for low-income and other vulnerable people. These include rent eviction and mortgage foreclosure prevention.

Consumer Advisory - Consumer Tips for Avoiding Foreclosure Rescue Scams
Information provided by The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
A powerful site providing many resources which give options to the homeowner facing foreclosure.

Federal Reserve: Foreclosure resources for consumers
Excellent site with links to many agencies and organizations offering a variety of services to those who are struggling with foreclosure.

Homelessness Prevention Program (local interest)
The Maryland Department of Human Resources provides limited grants or loans to households with a pending eviction, and in some jurisdictions, support counselors who work with tenants and landlords to prevent evictions.

HOPE - Homeowners Preserving Equity (local interest)
A Maryland initiative for preventing foreclosures due to sub-prime and "exotic" mortgage problems.  Site contains a downloadable consumer information kit which includes foreclosure prevention measures and steps to take before meeting with a housing advisor or lending officer.

Maryland State Bar Association-Foreclosure Proceedings
A new foreclosure law went into effect in Maryland on April 4, 2008 and any foreclosure action filed after that date must comply with the new law.  The foreclosure process and your rights in that process under the new law are outlined on this site.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
This site contains a helpful checklist: “Tips For Avoiding Foreclosure” in both English and Spanish. A section on Maryland resources is included: as well.

Aging Parents and Elder Care
A portal for information on all aspects of housing for seniors as well as other topics pertinent to elder care. Books, videos and support groups are also covered.

Baltimore County -  Senior Housing (local interest)
A County government site providing information on assisted living, nursing homes and other housing options for seniors in the County.

Care Interpreter
A free decision-support tool that allows a caregiver the ability to find the best living options for a parent or loved one based on specific personal and health needs.

Maryland Nursing Home Guide (local interest)
This resource provides Maryland residents with information about nursing home performance. Issued by the Maryland Health Care Commission.

Place For Mom
The nation's largest eldercare referral service. Provides comprehensive resources about senior housing and eldercare options to seniors and families in need.

Senior Housing Net
A directory of housing options nationwide. Includes assisted living, adult day care, home care and continuing care among other options. A division of Realtor.com.

Baltimore County and Maryland Real Estate Taxes (local interest)
Information on Property liens, Tax sales, Tax credits, Tax Rates.

Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) (local interest)
Look up the ownership and value information on any parcel of real estate in Maryland.
