Prevention Program (local interest)
The Maryland Department of Human Resources provides limited grants or loans to
households with a pending eviction, and in some jurisdictions, support
counselors who work with tenants and landlords to prevent evictions.
HOPE - Homeowners Preserving Equity
(local interest)
A Maryland initiative for preventing foreclosures due to sub-prime and
"exotic" mortgage problems. Site contains a downloadable consumer
information kit which includes foreclosure prevention measures and steps to
take before meeting with a housing advisor or lending officer.
Maryland State Bar Association-Foreclosure Proceedings
A new foreclosure law went into effect in Maryland on April 4, 2008 and any
foreclosure action filed after that date must comply with the new law. The
foreclosure process and your rights in that process under the new law are
