FOURTH GRADE

 JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES  
  • Small groups of student visit various businesses in the spring of each year.

 

FIFTH GRADE


 JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES   All 5th grade students go on one or two small group trips to area businesses. The business partners (20) provide hands-on activities, employee interaction, and oftentimes lunch. Students use a clipboard to write answers to job shadowing questions. Information is later shared during class meetings.

PARTNERSHIP W/SOLLERS POINT SOUTHEASTERN TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL   All 5th grade students tour the school to promote career awareness. In addition, instructors from the school serve as Career Day presenters.

 FIELD TRIPS TO AREA BUSINESSES  

 Field trips are taken to various locations in which tour guides highlight various career/job opportunities

 ART PARTNERSHIP W/MD STATE ARTS COUNCIL, GOUCHER COLLEGE, & PATAPSCO HIGH SCHOOL

 PARTNERSHIP W/ THE MILITARY  
  • Approximately 40 students learn drills after school
  • Career oriented field trips are taken to
    • Warfield A.F
    • National Guard Base
    • Silent Marines Program in Washington, D.C.

 PARTNERSHIP WITH DUNDALK COMMUNITY COLLEGE REACHING STUDENTS AND PARENTS   Career pathways, the "Changes Program," is held at Sandy Plains for parents who want to transition back into the workforce. DCC also serves as a job shadowing host for students.
