| ELEMENTARY SCHOOL | CAREER SPEAKERS: Parents and community volunteers serve as career speakers in classrooms. SCHOOL BASED MENTORING: Parents and community volunteers serve as mentors to students. CAREER AWARENESS PROJECT: Children interview individuals to gather information on their careers and follow up with oral and written presentations. PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT PROGRAM: This grant program explores various career paths. It is coordinated by PH.D. candidates from Binghamton University. |
| MIDDLE SCHOOL | CAREER SPEAKERS: A speakers bureau is coordinated by the guidance department. TRADE AND TECHNOLOGY CLUB: Speakers from various trades speak to students and help them submit projects for various projects for various state competitions. HOME & CAREER RESEARCH PROJECT: This interdisciplinary research project is implemented through the collaborative efforts of English, guidance, and home care teachers. SCHOOL CHILD CARE PROGRAM: Students visit elementary schools to observe and participate in a child care program. |
| HIGH SCHOOL | JOB SHADOWING & EMPLOYER VISITS: Rotarians serve as job shadowing hosts. In addition, they visit schools to participate in small discussions regarding the value of education, what employers are seeking, and important work skills such as attitude and attendance. SPEAKER'S BUREAU: A speakers bureau is coordinated by the guidance department. MENTORING PROGRAM: Community volunteers serve as mentors to students. FIELD TRIPS TO VARIOUS BUSINESSES: Employers provide students with an overview of their business, employee requirements(ie required education & income possibilities), and work schedules. APPLIED CURRICULUM: Anatomy class invite speakers from medical establishments to students. Several Tech Prep courses are offered (Applied Math I & II, Principles of Technology, Applied Earth Science, Applied Bio. & Chemistry, and Workplace Readiness.) In addition, English provides instruction in technical writing & communication skills. |
