Career Awareness/Exploration for Student

  • Speak to students about careers and the workplace
  • Participate in Career Day activities and fairs
  • Provide site tours of my business/industry
  • Serve as a job shadowing host for students (1 day)

Career Preparation of Students

  • Teach resume writing or other career related skills
  • Conduct mock interviews with students
  • Offer non-paid work experiences to students (internships)
  • Provide paid work experiences (cooperative education placements)
  • Provide apprenticeships for students
  • Become involved as a career mentor (pupils are linked with an adult in a student's field of interest)
  • Provide expertise as consultants to student-operated businesses (school-based enterprises)

Career Awareness/Exploration for Teachers

  • Provide internships for teachers during the summer months
  • Host Baltimore County's Free Enterprise course in order to introduce educators to my business/industry and to communicate my needs and expectations for entry level employees (1 evening)
  • Offer job shadowing opportunities to educators

Curriculum

  • Work with educators to develop lessons that integrate academic and workplace knowledge
  • Develop and participate in classroom projects related to work

Management Support

  • Join and participate on a School Improvement Team
  • Join and participate on a Business Advisory Board
  • Join and participate on a subcommittee for Career Connections (Local Labor Market Team)
