Friends of the Towson Library Annual Meeting Welcomes Jackie Urbanovic

Practice your quacking and you'll be ready for our Friends of the Towson Library Annual Meeting, May 1st, 7:00 pm in the Towson Room, when we welcome New York Times best-selling author/illustrator Jackie Urbanovic as our guest speaker. Jackie is the creator of many children's books including the very funny Max series: Duck at the Door, Duck Soup , Duck and Cover and Sitting Duck. From her website, www.jackieurbanovic.com, Jackie tells us, "It (humor) tells us things about ourselves that are difficult to look at square in the eye and it has a direct connection to my heart. Laughter gets us by difficult moments and reminds us that we're All Human, or in the case of Max, all ducks." Jackie says her humor is based on things important to her - home, belonging, compassion, and of course cooking and eating. She is our neighbor from Silver Spring, Maryland. This is a family friendly program and children are welcome to wear their pajamas. Check-out her books in the library and we'll draw the winner of a Max the duck toy at the end o f the evening. Randallstown Library Celebrates World Book Night with a Free Book Give-away!
 
In celebration of World Book Night, an annual international event designed to spread the love of reading, the family of Henrietta Lacks will give out free copies of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot at Baltimore County Public Library - Randallstown location at 8604 Liberty Road on Monday, April 23, 2012 between the hours of 6PM-8PM, while supplies last.
